oh.

one more thing. i read this in artforum a few weeks ago and i thought it was interesting. it's frustrating because while all my colleagues are getting riled up about art versus craft, i really think we should be talking about stuff like this:

Very relevant to discussions/podcast in my writing across media class. I found cory archangel a few months ago and have been subscribing to his blog.
A podcast about remix culture in music especially-- http://wpr.org/wcast/download1.cfm?mp3file=bok080720a.mp3&iNoteID=75129
but I think it reflects soemthing larger about the mix and match culture of today. The bombardment by media and our resulting pragmatism/fragmentation.

I have been talking a lot in grad seminar and with other profs about how the present economic climate can be an opportunity to radicalize presentation and do what they actually want. One less excuse to create what we want. No teaching jobs, no art sales. Many new york times articles about those subjects in the past few weeks.

yeah, i've been reading a lot of stuff to that end too (the economy being a catalyst for actually changing what is made). i think a lot of things in the "art market" (whatever you perceive that as) are going to change in the next few years, and i think mostly for the better.
